Question: What tools do I need to remove an 08 VW Jetta factory radio and where can I get them if it is a specialty?
I am trying to remove my Factory Radio in my 2008 VW Jetta. It is a single disc player. Also, if possible can I keep the Aux port in the armrest operational.

Answer: I would say go to a stereo shop, and see if they will help you out. You can also try going to ebay and doing a search for the kit. If its just a plain Aux jack that connects to the back of the stock stereo, you should not have a problem keeping the Aux port. I have an 04, but I had a pro audio dealer take care of putting a complete system in.

Question: Why does the Malfunction Indication Light on my '99 VW Jetta continue to stay on despite getting it worked on?
We recently bought this '99 VW Jetta from a private owner and the light never went on during test driving but then it continues to go on. We got it worked on and it stopped but then next time we drove it, it started again.
Any clue as to what this may be?

Answer: First off unhooking the battery does not work on 1996 and newer cars.
Secondly take it to a national auto parts store and let them scan it and reset the codes. If it comes back on then the code they read is your problem.

Question: Where can I get a good roof rack for my VW jetta?
I have a 2007 VW Jetta Wolfsburg edition. Does anyone have a jetta with a roof rack - does it look okay? What model do you have? How much do they cost?

Question: How expensive is it to fix a rear-view mirror for a 2007 VW Jetta?
I hit the passenger side mirror on my VW Wolfsberg Edition Jetta on the side of my house and broke it pretty bad. It's still on but it is not functioning. It had a blinker on the mirror, but now that is pretty much shot. Just curious if anyone has an estimate as to how much this would cost me to fix?

Answer: Don't know how much it is but it would be pretty expensive. Check on eBay. You might find used parts that you can repaint to your body color and replace for really cheap.

Question: Where can I get a cover for my VW Jetta Key?
I broke the part that attaches onto the rest of my keys. Now I have no way to keep it on the ring. I have the flip key.. If it helps, it's a 2002 VW Jetta. The dealership wants $310 to replace the key. If possible I need links. I am a girl, so colors are fine. Thanks in advance everyone.

Answer: That key comes in 2 peices the key or blade part and the alarm part, you should be able to buy the alarm part, it just pulls apart, then you will need to program the alarm to the car

Question: Why is my VW Jetta slipping out of gear?
Hi. I have a 2002 VW Jetta 1.8Turbo. Automatic Transmission. Ive had a problem a few times this week where the car slips out of gear while driving on the highway. The RPMs rev up, but the car slows down. I simply shift it into neutral and back a few times and this fixes it. Ive been taking it to the dealer for regular maintenance so I assume they have been checking transmission fluid, but not positive. Don't see any leaks underneath the car. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Answer: VW's are very complicated little cars. Not likely to be low on fluid, unless the transmission is slipping and sending burned fluid out of the vent. There are many things that can cause problems that may seem like a transmission problem, but really isn't. Go back to the dealer for a proper diagnosis. Good Luck

Question: What does the ASR button on the VW jetta's dashboard do?
I drive a 2001 VW Jetta GLX. I just bought the car pretty recently I noticed that there is a button with ASR on it placed prominently on the dash. Hitting the button lights it up and also lights up an icon next to the speedometer (its a yellow colored icon which has a circle around an exclamation mark)

What does this ASR button do and should I leave it on or leave it off?

Answer: The Anti Slip Regulator stops power to the wheels when they spin,
The asr is designed to be turned off only when you require the wheels to spin at low speed EG: when you are on snow or ice - as the asr will stop the power to the wheels if they start spinning you would never get anywhere, Over 20mph the asr is not active and serves no function.

Question: Where can I get the install instructions for a AEM intake system, 1.8t VW Jetta?
I bought this system used which fits on 99-05 VW 1.8t Jetta. It didn't come with the instructions and I don't want to do it the wrong and hard way. A URL or download or e-mail of the AEM instructions for this car would be GREAT!!!!

Answer: go to aem website and they will have instructions. when you purchase the item from aem you it comes with it

Question: I am moving to Californian from Texas with my newly purchased VW Jetta?
I am moving to Californian from Texas with my newly purchased VW Jetta. How do I change the title and license with California emission standard? I am driving it there

Answer: California emissions are not required if you purchased and registered the vehicle before you became a California resident. If possible, you should register it in Texas while you are still a Texas resident and then retitle and register it in CA when you move. If CA determines that you were already a CA resident when you purchased it, you will not be able to register it in CA.

Question: What does it mean when my VW Jetta RPMs go to 0 While driving 70 on the highway and the car is still running?
I have a 2001 VW Jetta GLS 5 sp std. and my RPMs went to 0 While I was driving on the highway at 70mph and the car was still running, the car did a little shutter and all I did was push my clutch in and the RPMs went back to normal. Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do about this, and does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be. Why are the RPMs going to 0

Question: Does a VW Jetta require premium gasoline?
I'm thinking about buying a 2002 VW Jetta and the dealer told me that the car took premium gasoline. I've never heard this about Jettas before. Does anybody have (or has had) a Jetta and can tell me whether or not this is true?

Answer: The previous writer is correct: only the 2.5 5 cylinder and the old 2.0 liter non turbo four can run on regular gas. All other recent model VW's require premium grade fuel of at least 91 octane.

Also, your engine unless its a 2.0 non turbo four, requires synethic oil that meets VW requirements of 501.000, 502.00, of which either a special Castrol Synthenic oil (says it meets VW-Audi requirements) or the Mobil 1 european formula are the only oils I know that meet VW requirements. Be sure to use the right oil for the longest engine life.

Question: What is the difference between a regular VW Jetta and a Wolfsburg edition?
I have a 1999 Volkswagon Jetta Wolfsburg. I want to know what is different about a Wolfsburg edition. I know that some newer Wolfsburg models have turbos, but I want to know the difference for a 99' wolfsburg.

Answer: The 99 Wolfsburg Jettas were an option to get a nicer interior and more creature comforts than the regular Jetta GL and Jetta GLS.

The Wolfsburg Jetta in 99 really has everything else the same but the interior fabric/pattern. They also usually came with power windows, mirrors, and some even came with heated seats. The seats in the Wolfsburg edition have a higher bolster than the other Jettas as well.

The 99 jettas were also the last of the Mk3 body Jettas.

Ps. They didn't come with the fancy BBS wheels mentioned earlier. Those BBS Wheels didn't come till 2001 on the Wolfsburg Jetta 1.8t. The 99 Jetta Wolfsburg came with a Factory 5-spoke wheel.
